Somerville Welcomes Scottish Government Reprieve for Odeon Cinema
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians)(SNP) has given a cautious welcome to the decision by Scottish Government ministers to refuse listed building consent for a 231 bed hotel and restaurant development proposed by Duddingston properties.
Somerville Calls for Inquiry into Bonuses for Water Bosses
Lothians SNP MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville has called for the Scottish Parliament to investigate bonus and expense payments in the water industry in Scotland.
Ms Somerville has written to the Convenor of the Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change (TICC) Committee, Patrick Harvie, saying it would be ‘highly appropriate’ for the committee to take evidence on the nature and extent of the payments.
Somerville Visits Edinburgh Books on Wheels
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians) (SNP) visited the WRVS Books on Wheels and Library Link service in Leith this morning.
For many housebound older people reading or listening to a book is an important stimulating pastime. Working together with local library service, the home library service can help if someone is unable to visit in person. A volunteer will bring a selection of books, videos, DVDs, CDs and audio tapes to older people in their home on a regular basis. There is also the opportunity to meet with likeminded local people in a community library for social events and book clubs – which is what Shirley-Anne visited this morning.
Somerville Marks Bowel Cancer Awareness Month
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP for Lothians (SNP) will hold a Parliamentary Reception at the Scottish Parliament to mark Bowel Cancer Awareness Month to bring organisations, charities and patients together to raise awareness. The reception will also be addressed by Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing.
