Somerville Seeks Holyrood Enquiry into Trams Project
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians) (SNP) has written to the convener of the Scottish Parliament’s Transport Committee calling for the committee to undertake an urgent enquiry into the Edinburgh Trams project. This follows on from remarks made at Committee in March 2010 when both Ms Somerville and the Transport Committee convener - Green MSP Patrick Harvie - went on record suggesting that further discussion of the tram project would be welcome.

Somerville Says Biomass Plans Should Not Get Go-ahead
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians) (SNP) has written to Forth Energy explaining that she will not support current plans for a biomass plant in Leith. The MSP recently carried out an extensive consultation of residents in the area round Imperial Dock where the proposed plant would be built - and while the Climate Change Committee member is sympathetic to the general principle of biomass, she shares the overwhelming view of residents that these particular proposals are not right for Leith.
