Somerville says Forth Ports must think again on Leith Biomass Plant
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians)(SNP) welcomed today’s statements by Environment Minister Roseanna Cunningham suggesting that the Scottish Government sees the role of Biomass Energy being confined to small scale plants which primarily produce heat. The Minister was speaking in response to Parliamentary questions from Ms Somerville.
Further Housing Boost for Edinburgh

Somerville addresses allotments conference – Demand for gardening space growing in Edinburgh
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians)(SNP) will open the Scottish Allotments and Gardens Society (SAGS) conference in Dunblane on Saturday 19 June 2010, with the message that the Scottish Government and Parliament are keen to help councils meet the soaring demand for gardening space. Waiting times for some allotment sites in Edinburgh has reached eight or even nine years and it is believed that the number of people waiting is well into four figures
Somerville calls for tram apology
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians)(SNP) has renewed her criticism of the Edinburgh trams project as new papers show that total council spending on the project is almost certainly going to more than double to £100 million – and yet, so far it has only managed to raise enough finance to cover £16.4 of it’s original contribution of £45 million.
