Somerville Welcomes Minimum Price for Alcohol
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians) (SNP), has welcomed the recent Scottish Government announcement that the proposed minimum price for alcohol will be set at 45p per unit.
Somerville Comments on Latest Tram Adjudication – TIE Must Change Approach to Openness
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians)(SNP) says newspaper stories concerning the latest trams adjudication battle raises a number of serious questions about how the project is being run. Reports indicate that the ruling will leave TIE powerless to keep contractors working on parts of the project where there is a dispute about costs. Ms Somerville believes the episode also undermines TIE’s claims to be operating in an open and accountable manner.
Somerville Receives Reassurances on “Party Flats”
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians) (SNP) has welcomed correspondence from Housing Minister Alex Neil confirming that the Scottish Government intends to tighten laws on anti-social behaviour so that councils can tackle “party flats” more effectively. Ms Somerville has previously raised concerns about the weekly nightmare being suffered by local residents as large parties converge on nearby properties for stag and hen weekends.
Somerville Welcomes More Buggies on Buses
Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP (Lothians) (SNP) has welcomed correspondence from Lothian Buses committing the company to better access to their vehicles for passengers with buggies. As a result of positive consumer feedback, the company has recently placed an order for five new single-deck buses which will incorporate a designated buggy space. Furthermore, twelve double-deck buses will be reconfigured to provide buggy space.
