SOMERVILLE WELCOMES MOVES TO MAKE EDINBURGH A TRANSITION CITY

Lothians MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP today welcomed the announcement from the Scottish Government of an 18.8 million Climate Challenge Fund which will support community-led action to reduce carbon emissions.

The Transition Town Initiative has been chosen as an example of good practice which will receive support from this new fund. Portobello was the first transition town in Scotland, and a steering group has now been set up to help Edinburgh become one of the first transition cities.
