Following today’s publication of a Westminster report on mail services which exposed threats to thousands more post offices across the UK, on top of the 2,500 already scheduled for closure, Lothians SNP MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville has called for urgent action to protect the network in Edinburgh.

Lothians MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP today welcomed the announcement from the Scottish Government of an 18.8 million Climate Challenge Fund which will support community-led action to reduce carbon emissions.
The Transition Town Initiative has been chosen as an example of good practice which will receive support from this new fund. Portobello was the first transition town in Scotland, and a steering group has now been set up to help Edinburgh become one of the first transition cities.

Lothians SNP MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville today (Wednesday) welcomed the Scottish Taxi Federation’s support for the SNP's proposals for a fuel duty regulator.
Ms Somerville met with representatives of the Scottish Taxi Federation, who explained the serious problems taxi drivers are facing due to rising fuel costs.
